Last week, the Bounce family took the shorties to the funkiest water park central Wisconsin. Unfortunately, it rained every damn day. But we didn’t sweat – it gave us a chance to re-choreograph our family breakdancing routine, and spend some quality time with Biggie.
You got to know after spending three solid days with B.I.G., we all had bellies full of cheese, eggs and Welch’s Grape. But even more than that, we had remixes on the dome! You know, just like Diddy! Unh! And another one…
Eric B and Rakim
Paid In Full (7 Minutes of Madness – Coldcut Remix)
12″, 1987
Back when we all used to wear our driving gloves to the teen club (oh, like you didn’t), “7 Minutes of Madness” was the craziest remix out there. Wigged-out Israeli vocals on top of greatest song from the most influential hip hop album of all time.
Ladybug Mecca
Dogg Starr (Voc Up Kenny Dope Mix)
OM Hip Hop Volume 1, 2007
Your favorite Digable Planet isn’t dead! She released an album in 2005, and Kenny Dope of Masters At Work fame made her lead single even hotter. Owch! Get some ice on that quick!
D Train
D Train (Theme)
12″, 1982
This is a ridiculous remix by Frenchie disco producer Fran\347ois Kevorkian. Ridiculous early ’80s cheese-rap and ridiculous boogie deliciousness.
Brand New Heavies
Dream Come True ‘92 (Reality Mix)
12″, 1992
House-y remix of my favorite BNH cut ever, with the always-perfect N’Dea Davenport. Check those stank horns and funky keys.
The Roots feat. Roy Ayers
Proceed IV – AJ Shine’s Proceed W/O a Pause
Proceed II, 1995
There were a grip of remixes for The Roots’ first major single, but how can you top Mr. Ayers’ funky vibes? He joined them in this joint on the 1994 AIDS awareness project Stolen Moments: Red Hot + Cool; AJ Shine remixed it for the EP. I think that chicken gizzard Scott Storch might be in there too.

lordy, i can listen to that Paid In Full remix one more time…
also, that Mecca remix is ehh. i thought Kenny would hook it up a bit more. i really dig the OG and play it on the regular. that song is also nearly the only tolerable one on the album. album cover – worst EVER.
There is something about water parks and rain. I don’t know what it is – some variant of Murphy’s Law I think.
Speaking of shorties – I’m expecting one of my own
oh my gosh pinky! congratulations, that’s wonderful news! babies rule.
#1 D-Train Theme is one of the greatest songs ever made!! Choo-Choo!
That BNH song has Tokyo Shibuya-Kei written all over it. I can picture it being played in an Aoyama underground club now . . .
Yes! More obscure D-Train! Not only can I not get enough, I can’t find any anywhere else! Keep it comin, please-
